Local Brothers face tough league task
EMBATTLED Gladstone Broth- ers face another tough task this weekend when they clash with Rockhampton Brothers in Sun- day's CQ Extended League A grade elimination semi-final at Marley Brown Oval.
Rockhampton Brothers ad- vanced to the second week of fin- als competition with a comfort- able 48-18 victory over Biloela in Rockhampton on Sunday while Gladstone Brothers fell 44-24 to arch-rivals Wallabys at Marley Brown Oval.
The good news for Gladstone Brothers was the return of full-back James Radloff and utility Nigel Robertson and, with prop Ben Bultreys also to return from injury, the Brethren will hope for a stronger performance this weekend.
Radloff and Robertson will be better for the run as will half- back Ben Platt who is only two games into his return from in- jury.
Wallabys' reserve grade side, the minor premiers, will have their first hit-out since losing the Gladstone grand final to Brothers when they take on Fitz- roy-Gracemere on Sunday.
Fitzroys scraped home 54-52 against Rockhampton Brothers in a high-scoring affair on Sunday, posting 11 tries to their opponents' nine. Rockhampton Brothers will now meet Yeppoon who were comfortable 56-30 victors over Gladstone Brothers on Sunday, bundling the latter out of the competition. In under-19 competition, Tan- num Sands will meet CQU Norths in the elimination semi- final. Tannum progressed to the second week of finals with a 30- 14 win over Gladstone Brothers while the Chargers went down 32-26 to Rockhampton Brothers who will take on minor premiers Yeppoon on Sunday.
