Karlee?s stellar year goes on

GLADSTONE'S Karlee McKay continued her stellar year in fine style, winning gold at the State Dressage, Combined Training and Horse Trials championships in Rockhampton recently.

The 17-year-old in partnership with her trusty horse Marlua's Wizard scored gold in the tough 13-26 years preliminary dressage event.

It was a titanic win for McKay who was representing Central Queensland (Zone 9) at the four-day titles.

McKay's consistency was the feature of her performance, with three different tests over the two days of competition.

She placed second in all three tests and that was good enough to win gold in the 23-strong field made up of Queensland and New South Wales riders.

After winning gold, McKay and Marlua's Wizard competed in the restricted eventing novice class, placing ninth.

The pair backed that up with a bold and clear cross country phase and with a clear round of show jumping placed sixth overall.

It was a magnificent effort by the Gladstone rider who has had a very impressive 2005 year.
