CAPRICORNIA under-18 Australian football coach Brett Fragiacomo has named an impressive line-up for this weekend's South Queensland trial match against home side Mackay on Sunday.

The team, which features eight players from the Gladstone district, has been sweating it out over a hot summer under the guidance of Fragiacomo who is confident of getting a good result.

'They've been doing really well and putting in a lot of hard work so hopefully they'll get rewarded for that,' Fragiacomo said of his players.

'We've got good tall players, medium-sized players and some fast guys so it's a good mix.'

BITS Saints have vice-captain Jake Mostert, Alex Totton, Craig Shipard, Justin Mountjoy, Matthew Dickenson and Nick Bull in the side alongside Gladstone Mudcrabs siblings Brendan and Nathan Parnaby.

In his role as Capricornia area development manager, Fragiacomo has previously had opportunity to view members of Mackay's squad at training sessions.

'They'll be hard at it and solid at the ball,' Fragiacomo warned. 'They'll be hard to beat. 'I think it will be a very even contest. Both teams are at about the same skill level.'

Fragiacomo, a Queensland Country Kookaburras under-18 selector this year, will also view a second South Queensland trial between Dar-ling Downs and Wide Bay/Bundaberg next weekend.

He was aiming for at least six Capricornia players to be chosen for the South Queensland side which will take on their North Queensland counterparts, drawn from Townsville and Cairns, at Rockhampton's Stenlake Park on February 18.

From that match, the Kookabur-ras representative outfit for this year's state development championships.
