Home town dominates gymnastics titles

HOME town stars Dayna Law- rie and Keecia Mallie dominat- ed when the Gladstone Gymnas- tic Club hosted the Central Queensland Women's Artistic Gymnastics Senior Regional Championships last weekend.

Lawrie captured the level sev- en CQ regional champion title, her consistency rewarded when she won the bars and vault dis- ciplines and finished second on beam and floor.

Mallie was equally impres- sive in level six competition, holding out Gladstone club- mate Ella Lawrie for the cham- pionship.

Mallie was unheaded on vault, beam and floor and fin- ished second on bars to Ella who was second on both vault and beam and third on floor. The Gladstone trio are in great form ahead of the senior state titles to be battled out in Brisbane next month.

The Gladstone Invitational WAG Levels 3-5 event was staged in conjunction with the CQ championships with Lauren Gibson outstanding in level three competition.

Gibson took overall honours after winning on bars and claiming third spot on floor, beam and vault.

Gibson's club-mates Dew Whitney and Letitia Delioglanis finished second and third over-all, Whitney's best efforts bring her victories on floor and beam while Delioglanis was second on vault and beam.

Talia Galbraith had a narrow win over fellow Gladstone com- petitor Mollie O'Neill to take the level four honours.

Galbraith finished first on bars and floor, second on vault and third on beam to just edge out O'Neill who won the vault and beam, was second on floor and fourth on bars.

Another Gladstone gymnast, Courtney Christensen, was third overall, recording second placings on bars and beam, third on floor and fifth on vault.

Level 4: Jemma Anderson ? 3rd bars, 4th vault, 4th beam and 4th floor; Jessica Ward ? 3rd vault, 5th bars, 5th beam and 5th floor.
