Heritage train visits on trek north
IT was a rude awakening for some, but for rail enthusiasts the heritage train's visit to Gladstone was enough to bring a tear to the eye.
The heritage train is making its way along the Queensland coastline to celebrate Queensland Rail's 140th birthday.
Those lucky enough to secure tickets for the ride were Rockhampton-bound when the train chugged its way north.
Despite a slight hiccup on Monday when the engine suffered a breakdown, it was able to make its way to Gladstone overnight ready for yesterday's journey.
To celebrate the occasion, The Observer readers have the chance to win a family holiday to South Molle Island. Find out how to enter in today's Observer Classifieds section.
