Hat points to great day at the races
POINSETTIAS were positively sprouting from Rochelle Scott's magnificent hat.
Flowers were everywhere, cir-cling Rochelle's giggling face.
Rochelle stole the limelight at the Calliope Picnic Races yesterday in her black number and the hat designed just minutes before she left for the races.
The hat was a joint effort between Rochelle, her mother Helen Scott and her aunt.
Among the cowboy hats, the poinsettia hat made the day for the family.
The Calliope Picnic Races were a new experience for Rochelle, who will be starting Year 8 next year.
'It's awesome,' Rochelle said.
'The horses ? I just like watching them go around.
'The races are cool as.'
However despite the enthusiasm, Rochelle's tips for mum didn't seem to be winning the family too much money.
"We haven't won too much yet,' Helen said.
'We nearly won when there was a protest over one race. 'It's been a great day though.
'The hat makes the race day.'
