Hard hats bring bargains

WHILE the street is closed to traffic, traders in the Goondoon Street library square are not letting it get them down.

The Library Square Traders are launching a Hard Hat Friday promotion to help attract customers back to the CBD. The construction work has restricted traffic.

Group spokesperson Scott McCarthy said shoppers could pick up some good savings in the library square area every Friday as part of the promotion.

"Every store will be doing their own savings or promotion or giveaways to help get people back in the store,'' he said.

Mr McCarthy said people should also be aware that parking was available in the Entertainment Centre car park.

Mr McCarthy said while business had initially been slow since the street was blocked off more than two weeks ago, things had picked up again with residents showing their support.

The Hard Hat Friday promotion will continue until the completion of the work in December.
