GRUFs wary of round one nemesis

GLADSTONE are riding high at the top of the Rockhampton and District Rugby Union Sub-districts premiership ladder but have reason to be wary of lowly Biloela at Biloela today.

The GRUFs fell to Biloela, the latter's only win of the season, when the teams last met on the opening day of the premiership on April 9 and Gladstone coach Jon Dalton said the match would not be taken lightly.

'We should have disposed of them in the first round but we didn't so we're not going in thinking it's going to be a walkover this time,'' Dalton said.

'We'll be relying on our backs ? that's where our strength lies over Biloela.'

Dalton hopes a reshuffled GRUFs pack, caused by the absence of Charles Tema (knee injury), Josh Mountjoy (shoulder), Scott Rasmussen (study) and David Loane (referee's exam), will match the Biloela pack.

Rodney Jurd returns to fill the tighthead prop role and Dalton will rely on he and converted hooker Rob Wood providing a platform up front alongside Cameron Williams (second row), flankers Anthony GroenInt-Woud and Brendan King and No.8 Vance Krahenbring.

With only one home game to date, the GRUFs have done well to secure top spot on the ladder ahead of Mt Morgan and Cap Coast, and Dalton will expect them to keep the spot with a win today.
