Glen U16s claim cricket win

THE GLEN'S under-16 team came up trumps in the battle of the clubmates in Gladstone Junior Cricket action at Clinton Park last Thursday.

Batting first, The Glen's under- 15 team scored a solid total of 8/ 100 off their allotted overs.

Benjamin Appo with 19 was The Glen's top scorer with the bat, while three bowlers claimed two wickets apiece.

In reply, The Glen under-16s did it tougher than most expected, passing the total with just three wickets in hand. Michael Clayton with 26 not out and Glen Stanton-Cook were the stars.

Yaralla came out on top in the other under-16 clash played against BITS.

Elliott Gibb (16no) and Trevor Tickner (13) were Yaralla's top batsman as they finished with 8/ 111.

BITS were never really in the hunt in reply as Yaralla's Michael Chadwick starred with the ball.

Chadwick finished with 4/12 and Nathan Neill picked up 3/2 as the Islanders were knocked over for 48.

Daniel Harvey fought hard with a rearguard 13, BITS' top score.

In under-13/14 action, Yaralla 2 bounced back from last week's loss to score a 51-win over Brothers.

Yaralla 2 batted first for a score of 8/127, with Brendan Welch 27 the top score as Brothers Jordan Young picked up 4/17.

Brothers batting star Pat Hides led his team's chase with 30, but not enough of his team-mates got going with the bat as they ended 9/76.

Calliope and The Glen emerged victorious in under-12 action, while Yaralla scored a good win in the under-11 clash at Boyne School.

Meanwhile, the closest match of the round was in the under-9s, where The Glen defeated Calliope by just three wins, 98 to 95.
