ACTOR, singer, dancer Dale Pengelly's gift to his home town will be presented on stage next week at the Gladstone university campus.

Mr Pengelly will return for two exclusive performances to raise funds for a scholarship to be awarded to a promising young Gladstone performer to enrol in Central Queensland Univesity's Bachelor of Performing Arts.

Concert organiser Fay Owens said Gladstone's own 'Boy from Oz' was expected to draw big crowds to the 'Pigs, Lions, Ballet and Broadway' performance on May 12 and tickets were selling fast.

'This concert is a gift from Dale to his home town and locals are encouraged to help future performers by attending this concert,' Mrs Owens said.

Mr Pengelly left Gladstone in the early 1980s and had his first major success as part of the ensemble in the Queensland Theatre Company performance of 'Hello Dolly' in 1982.

Recently he understudied for the role of Peter Allen in 'The Boy From Oz'.

The May 12 performances will be at 9.30am and 7.30pm.
