Gladstone Central shoping centre almost ready

By REN LANZONrlanzon@gladstoneobserver.com.au

THE final touches are being made to the new Gladstone Central shopping centre, ready for its opening next month.

The spokesman for proponents Celt- ic Pacific Properties Ken Stockley said the tenants were also preparing to move in to their shops.

These include IGA, which will oper-ate a major supermarket. The complex is rising on the Mul- hern Investments site between Park Street and Kentucky Fried Chicken along the Dawson Highway.

Car parking for the complex is un- derneath the supermarket.

Workers this week sealed off the Dawson Road frontage for entrance work and landscaping.

A further stage of development will be a seven-cinema complex above the supermarket and it will also contain car parking. Some work has already been carried out on the cinemas.

The ramp leading to the upstairs car- park and cinemas has been completed. Painters have also been busy prepar- ing the shopping centre complex this week.

They are on schedule for completion by the opening date, which has not been finally decided yet.

A Dicey Reilly's Irish pub will be de- veloped during the construction of the cinema complex.

The cinemas will be operated by Gladstone Cinemas, currently in Hixon Drive across from Reef City Ford.
