Gladiators swimmers start season early

GLADSTONE Gladiators swimmers Alex Kujanpaa and Antoinette Hayes get their seasons off to an early start when they contest the Queensland Short Course Championships in Brisbane this weekend.

Both will contest the 12 years girls' 50m freestyle, 100m free, butterfly, backstroke and breaststroke events and 200m breaststroke over two days of competition, beginning tomorrow. In addition Kujanpaa will contest the 200m freestyle and Hayes will take part in the 200m individual medley.

Both swimmers are expected to perform strongly and have been training strongly for more than a month.

They are among more than 20 swimmers who have got the jump on their fellow Gladstone district clubs by already having started intense training.
