WHO SAID private girls' and boys' schools couldn't mix?

Just ask the St Brendan's and St Ursula's teams from Yeppoon who combined to win the Telstra Secondary School Surf League Central Queensland leg at Tannum Beach on Friday.

The combined schools finished with 239 points to win the title by 63 points from Rockhampton Grammar.

Home school Tannum Sands High ended third, while Chanel College (5th) and Gladstone High (6th) could be happy with their efforts. Cathedral College, Rockhampton was fourth.

From an individual point of view, Gladstone High's Sarah Lowe was the star, winning the under-15 female age champion title. Lowe won three of the five events contested to take the crown.

Other locals to shine on the day included Zac Bond, Katie Craig, Andrew Cowan, John Akari and Teneille Koenig (Tannum), Jess Lawrie and Christi Davidson (Chanel), Kimberley Busteed and Nicola Harper (Gladstone).
