Fowler wins St Stephen's swimming carnival



A STRONG team effort powered Fowler house to an impressive victory in the St Stephen's Lutheran College Swimming Carnival at the Western Suburbs pool.

Fowler scored 1289 points to easily win from Golding in second place on 1009 points, while Noack ended with the wooden-spoon.

The emphasis of last Tuesday's event was participation and the school was very pleased with the support from all the students.

There were a number of standouts at the carnival with 11-year-old young gun Lachlan Winterbottom and 14-year-old Sophie Benvenuti scoring 90 points to win their age championships.

Other outstanding efforts came from rising nine-year-old Sarah Baade who won five events, Reece Gibbs, Tyson White, Hannah Richardson and Kelly Harrison.

Age champions (boys/girls): 8 years: Rhys Christensen, Sophie McLaughan, 9 years: Michael Carr, Courtney Christensen, 10 years: Reece Gibbs, Kelly Harrison, 11 years: Lachlan Winterbottom, Rikki White, 12 years: Zac Vuksanovic, Gypsy Semple, 13 years: Tyson White, Hannah Richardson, 14 years: Matt Davis, Sophie Benvenuti, 15 years: Jacob Seabrook, Monique McLaughlin.
