A 44-foot boat was destroyed by fire at the Gladstone Marina last night.

Three Queensland Fire and Rescue Service appliances attended the fire which was reported about 6.30pm.

The boat was in dry dock at the East Coast Slipway when the fire started.

It was believed the boat had been on the site since Monday night.

One witness said the boat was well alight by the time QFRS arrived on the scene.

The QFRS used a cherry picker in an attempt to get above the fire while fighting it.

It was believed no other boats were damaged during the fire. QFRS and police were last night investigating the incident.
