Excitement builds for prom night

THE EXCITEMENT is palpable at Toolooa State High School today as senior students prepare for their prom night.

Year 12 student Megan Bale said the hype surrounding the end-of-year event had been building over the past few weeks, and students could barely contain their excitment as the big night drew near.

"It's been the talk of the school ? instead of asking people about their exams, it's 'What are you wearing to the formal?', 'Who are you going with?','' Megan said.

She said girls had been feverishly deciding on hair, nails and make-up for the night, while the boys also found time to talk about their outfits and what their partners would be wearing.

Senior student Nathan Cutts said the boys were excited about celebrating the end of exams and looking forward to graduation.

"We get just as excited about it, and it's fun to get dressed up and look schmicko for the night,'' Nathan said.

While Toolooa's formal is being held a week earlier than usual, the students said it would give them an opportunity to have some fun next week, before they officially graduated.

A selection of Toolooa Prom photos will be published in Monday's Observer, and parents, students and friends can also keep an eye out for the annual Gladstone Proms Pictorial Feature, displaying all Year 12 students from Tannum Sands, Toolooa and Gladstone State High Schools and Chanel College.
