Doman eyeing big softball hits on NZ tour

FORMER Gladstone softball star Amanda Doman is eyeing off more hits than the Beatles when the Aussie Spirit tour of New Zealand begins tomorrow.

Doman heads into the tour in great form after her standout display for Queensland which earned her the Most Valuable Player at the recent Australian Championships in Victoria.

She is looking forward to taking that form across the Tasman in a bid to secure a place for June's World Series.

'I am excited to be playing in another international series and can't wait to go to New Zealand,' Doman said.

'Even though the tour is only for a week, it is important to our preparation for the upcoming World Series.

'Personally, it is great for me to get more international experience as a player and hopefully I can contribute to the team as best I can.'

Doman added the make-up of the three-day tournament, played between three New Zealand teams, a visiting NSW and of course Aussie Spirit would result in tough competition.

'I am sure the competition will be pretty strong. NSW are sending a strong team and from all reports New Zealand are quite confident of their teams performing well,' she said. Gregor Mactaggart
