Deadline for league entry today

TODAY is deadline day for the five Gladstone District Rugby League clubs keen to be part of the 2006 CQ Extended League competition.

The five local clubs have until close of business today (5pm) to get their final submissions into the GDRL board.

GDRL president Roy Rowe said the five clubs had guaranteed they would make submissions to the board on how they meet the criteria for entry into the Extended League, established by the Central division. "All our clubs have said they will get their submissions in and I am confident they will,' Rowe said.

'Both the Gladstone and Rocky clubs have to put in their submission on Friday if they want to play in the Extended League next year.'

Rowe said this was only the first stage of a lengthy process, but added all five Gladstone clubs could be in the 2006 competition if they meet the criteria.

'As a board we have to make our recommendation to the division, but if all our clubs meet the criteria set, then I don't see why they can't all be in the Extended League next year,' he said.

'At this stage, everything is still up in the air and we cannot make our recommendations until we see the submissions.'

The GDRL have until October 14 to make their recommendations to the Central Division.
