Curtis fends of challenge in junior golf



CURTIS survived a testing challenge from their Keppel counterparts to secure first round honours in their Central Queensland Interzone Junior Pennants golf clash at Calliope on Sunday.

Curtis triumphed 7-5 with the matchplay competition hanging in the balance when Calliope's Clair DiCorleto came in all-square with Yeppoon's Trudy Collins ? DiCorleto finally getting her side home by winning the 19th hole.

The Curtis side, captained by Gladstone's Dylan Parish, also featured Mitchell Obst, Daniel O'Sullivan (both Gladstone), Dylan Huth, Josh Bevan, Nick Turnbull, Matt Wessling, Brodie Huth, Taylor McManus (all BITS) and LisaMarie Evans, Tabitha Holt, Claire DiCorleto (Calliope).

The boys' pin shot was taken out by Emu Park's Chris Tommason on the fifth hole while Caitlin Hooley snared the girls' pin shot on the 16th. Hooley participated as a Keppel reserve, meaning her results did not count in the overall competition.

The return match will be contested at Rockhampton Golf Club on April 10.
