Change rooms to be built at Briffney Creek

GLADSTONE district junior rugby league players will soon feel a little less exposed with news that the construction of new change rooms at the Briffney Creek grounds will soon get under way.

A $40,000 Jupiters Casino grant has given the Gladstone District Junior Rugby League Association the funding it required to build change rooms for two teams, with another referees' room also a possibility.

GDJRLA president Andy Toon said the association had been applying for the grant for a number of years and officials were pleased that the project could now go ahead.

At present, junior players must get changed at the back of the canteen, extra room for which will be freed up with the construction.

Toon said the improved facilities would particularly benefit the 15 Gladstone district girls who play in junior competition and would also provide a better envi-ronment at representative carnivals.

The entire cost of the project will be covered by the grant.
