Calliope gives nod to 120-lot subdivision

CALLIOPE Shire Council has approved a 20-lot subdivision for Don Cameron Drive in Calliope township with conditions.

Council considered the application by LG and CA Walker for the reconfiguring of 2.9 hectares of land at its recent meeting.

The approval is just one of a number of subdivisions approved for the township by council in the past two years.

Council believes that general-ly level allotments, competitive land prices and a desire by many to move to more rural areas as the main reasons for the market demand in Calliope.

A report from council's director of development, Russell Schuler, said sewerage was an issue with the application.

One of the conditions for approval is for the design and construction of roads, drainage, sewerage reticulation and water reticulation are to be carried out under the supervision of a Registered Professional Engineer Queensland.
