BITS soccer ladies triumph 3-0

A TWO-GOAL performance from former Queensland schoolgirls representative Sierra Ramke guided BITS to a hardfought 3-0 Gladstone Soccer Federation ladies division victory over Central at Yaralla Oval on Saturday.

Missing several keys players, including sisters Rebecca and Tracey O'Keefe and Vivian Rosentreter, BITS were still expected to be too strong for the struggling Central outfit but were met with firm resistance.

BITS had to wait until three minutes into the second half before notching their first goal when Ramke drilled a shot past Central goalkeeper Emillie Glossop.

Marg Edgarton gave BITS more breathing space when she scored in the 55th minute before Ramke added her second off a corner two minutes later. Ramke praised the stout defence of Central who, despite lacking BITS' fluidity in attack, impressed with their willingness to work hard.

'It was quite a good game ? it was a surprise how well they played,' Ramke said of Central.

'It was good to have competition.'

Ramke said BITS were continuing to build towards what is shaping to be a grand final showdown with Clinton.

'We're happy with the way it's going, but you never know what is going to happen. We'll just take it game by game and do our best to win.' Alongside Ramke, BITSwere well-served by Edgarton, Sandra McLeod, and Jacinta Burnett while Rebecca Emerson, Casey Moroney, Sara Khonenko starred for Central alongside Glossop who was outstanding in goal.
