BITS could bounce to Capricornia top four
BITS have the chance to secure a top four berth if results go their way in tonight's Capricornia Soccer League first division round nine fixtures.
All three Gladstone district teams have the home advantage this weekend and BITS will look to capitalise when they clash with Bluebirds United at BITS fields.
A victory for seventh-placed BITS would enable them to overtake Bluebirds (equal fifth) on the premiership ladder and would also give them a strong chance of leapfrogging Southside United (equal fifth) who take on competition leaders Frenchville.
If cellar-dwellers Central can engineer an upset victory over fourth-placed Nerimbera Brothers at Sun Valley Park, a BITS win would propel them into outright fourth spot.
Such a scenario did not look likely a fortnight ago when BITS suffered an 11-0 drubbing at the hands of Frenchville but the competition newcomers responded impressively with a 21 decision over second-placed Clinton last weekend.
Clinton are expected to return to the winner's circle when they host the struggling Parkana outfit at Clinton Park. Today at Sun Valley Park: 3.30pm 1st div Central White v Clinton, 5.30pm CSL 2nd div Central v Nerimbera Brothers, 7.30pm CSL 1st div Central v Nerimbera Brothers.
