BITS Bandits start premiership campaign in style

A SEVEN-GOAL haul to Josh Gaffel helped propel BITS Bandits to a 16-1 victory to open their Gladstone Junior Soccer Association youth premiership campaign in style.

The Bandits were far too strong for the Yaralla Bears at Yaralla Oval last Friday night with Josh's brother Cameron bagging five goals and Simon Tanner a double in the one-sided affair in which Adam Linke scored the Bears' only goal.

The second youth match was a tighter affair with Kelly Searston's double getting the Clinton Cowboys home over United Barbarians 2-1 (Darryl Hookey) at Clinton Park.

The Bandits were not the only side to register double figures on the weekend with Clinton Cobras belting Yaralla Vikings 18-0 in the colts division and BITS Boomers outclassing Meteor Magics 16-0 in the under-13s.

Greg Purdon scored four goals for the Cobras while Zac Vucsanovic and Angus O'Brien also scored four each for Boomers.
