Attempted arson charges laid

A DOMESTIC situation ended with one woman in police custody and a house at River Ranch, Calliope damaged by fire yesterday.

Police arrived at an Orion Terrace address about 1.15pm yesterday, and later charged the woman with attempted arson, break and enter and wilful damage.

Calliope Police Sergeant Mick Despot said there was some damage caused to the back door of the home, and fire had caused damage to a back bedroom.

Sgt Despot said he and the owner of the house extinguished the fire using a hand held fire extinguisher and pots and pans filled with water.

Sergeant Despot and the owner of the house were treated by Queensland Ambulance personnel at the scene for smoke inhalation.

The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service attended but the fire was out by the time they arrived.

There were no other injuries.
