Anderson and Dougall win prestigious Founders Cup

LOCAL guns Noeleen Anderson and Hal Dougall fired when it counted to win this year's Founders Cup at Miriam Vale last weekend.

The prestigious golf cup is shared by the men's and ladies winners on an aggregate net result over two days of golf. Dougall and Anderson both fired 134 nett totals to win, but won by quite different margins.

Dougall set up his men's victory with a first round score of 68 nett, the best on day one, and backed that up with a 66 on day two to win by a margin of seven shots.

Col Bates was runner-up on 141, while John McDonald finished third another five shots back.

In the ladies, Anderson and Joyce Pownall had to be separated on a countback.

Pownall led after the first day, carding a 63 nett to be one ahead of Anderson, but Anderson's 77 on day two was enough to win.

Pam Cawthray played well on day two to finish third, while Diane Kirwan came fourth.

Miriam Vale are hosting their 4BBB Mixed Open Championship this Sunday and nominations are being taken now.
