Aldoga project crawls along

THE Aldoga Aluminium Smelter project continues to crawl along, although as yet, nothing has been given the green light.

Part of their Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) stage has been completed and accepted by its investors, while their continues to be issues regarding the financial side.

Originally the FEED stage was to be completed in June, however it was extended until August.

It is still not completed.

Aldoga environment and external affairs general manager Bob Stephens said they were trying to come to an agreement with investors over the price.

'The technical side has been completed and received well, but their are still a few issues with the financial side,' he said.

'I would expect the issues to be worked out within the next few weeks.'

Mr Stephens said Leightons Golding contractors were completing earthworks at the site and were expected to finish their contract in the near future.

'We will then be in a bit of a holding pattern for a while waiting for the investors,' he said.

'By the end of the month we should have things clear from the investors point of view.
