LNG pipeline project scaled down but no word on job losses

AUSTRALIA Pacific LNG won't confirm rumours that 500 people were taken off the pipeline project this month.

But it says with less than 50 welds left to complete the main transmission pipeline, the project will be demobilised in a staged process.

A spokesperson said all principal contractors had been made aware of the plan to scale down operations.
