ANZ gives hampers to those doing it tough at Christmas

THE staff at Anglicare understands Christmas can be one of the hardest times of the year for many families in Gladstone.

Each year they help many families across the Gladstone region to cope with the high cost of living.

And for the third year in a row, ANZ bank has stepped in to help ease the burden of those doing it tough.

The Gladstone ANZ branch has donated 10 hampers and 10 meat vouchers to Anglicare.

Tenant liaison officer Maree Stebbings was amazed by the generosity from ANZ.

"A very big thank you to the management and staff of the ANZ bank for their incredible generosity and continued support of the families in need in our community," she said.

ANZ put together the hampers themselves incorporating an array of festive treats.

"Last year was more basic staples but this year there is a lot more fun stuff," Ms Stebbings said.

"Things like Christmas pudding, biscuits decorations - the things you don't always have spare money for."

Ms Stebbings said the hampers would be given to families doing it a bit hard this year, while the meat vouchers would go to singles.
