Another loss, but spirit is high

AUSSIE RULES: Glenmore Bulls' Ashley Brown helped sink Gladstone Mudcrabs by 81 points at Clinton Oval on Saturday.

Brown booted seven goals and his Bulls' teammate Toby Payne snared four.

The 16.11 (107) to 3.8 (24) win has the Bulls set up for a huge clash against BITS Saints at BITS Oval this weekend.

The winner of this match will almost certainly get the double-chance crack at a grand final berth.

The positive thing about the win-less Muddies is at least it is putting scores on the board and the home side gave its loyal fans something to cheer about in the final quarter.

Gladstone Mudcrabs booted the first and final goals of the quarter via Steven Grogan and Bradley Grogan respectively.

The hosts stopped the bleeding in the third quarter, but the floodgates opened in the final quarter as fatigue set in because some Gladstone players doubled up.

Glenmore kicked 6.1 in the fourth quarter. Had it not been for Trey Dummett at centre half back and winger Jamie Hill, it could have been a triple-figure deficit.

Mudcrabs' veteran Aaron Monish said the team had improved from its previous two meetings against the Bulls.

"Jace Arnold played his first game and did really well and Trey (Dummett), seriously, took close to 30 marks in defence I reckon," he said.

"Jamie Hill on a wing was great for us and Adam Hornbrook played in the middle and he's really underrated.

"We have a core group and even though it's late in the season, players are getting used to each other."
