Animating Spaces coordinators enthrall crowd with plans

THERE was a lively crowd at the Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum, last Saturday February 1, for a chance to meet the 2014 Animating Spaces coordinators and hear them speak about their plans for this exciting Artslink Qld initiative.

Animating Spaces is a community based multi-arts project aiming to revitalise and celebrate significant, non-traditional or unusual spaces within 15 regional communities across Queensland over three years.

The local project will present an exciting Spring school holidays weekend event of creative activities, at the Gladstone Aquatic Centre precinct.

When unveiling their plan, Animating Spaces Community Coordinator Belynda Waugh, invited all to become involved in this fantastic opportunity.

"We're calling on all members of the community to help make this initiative a success," she said.

"We do have a few secrets up our sleeves yet to reveal, but the project will unite visual arts, new media digital projection works and performing arts, in an event for all ages, celebrating the region's creative community and bringing the unique character of this place to the fore."

Animating Spaces is supported by the Australia Council for the Arts, Arts Queensland, Regional Arts Australia and the Gladstone Region Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF).

The RADF is a Queensland Government and Gladstone Regional Council partnership program to support local arts and culture.
