One Nation MP moves from shooting pigs to politics
BETWEEN Christmas and the new year, the sole One Nation MP in Queensland trapped and killed 24 feral pigs at North Goonyella Mine, before opening his office on January 2.
It's been about six weeks since Stephen Andrew took the seat of Mirani from Labor but still five weeks before he will be sworn into Parliament.
He said so far he has been energised by constituents presenting ideas on how to make Mirani and Queensland better.
"There has been a lot of good stuff like starting new sporting groups using Crown land," he said.
"Or even smaller things like installing ramps in local swimming pools so elderly people could use them in this hot weather."
Today Mr Andrew heads to Moranbah to meet with Isaac region Mayor Anne Baker before driving to Tieri where he will meet with managers of Oaky North mine and some of the workers who have been at a picket line for more than 160 days.
