Hervey Bay's first pole dancing competition a success

ANASTASIA Ivleva was head under heels after coming first in this year's South Queensland Pole Championships on Saturday.

Hervey Bay pole dancing group FitPole Studio hosted the event which is aimed at giving amateur pole enthusiasts from regional areas the chance to compete for a place in the Queensland Pole Championships in June.

While the overall winner Ms Ivleva was from Brisbane, Hervey Bay's Katelin Farley swung her way into second place against seven competitors from across the State.

Owner of FitPole Studio and mum of two, Rebecca Sheerin said she was impressed with the high standard of those involved.

"It was an amazing night," she said.

"I had a lot of people come and tell me that after seeing the skill involved in the performances it really changed their perception of pole dancing."

"This is the first time this regional competition has been run and we'd love to host it again."
