Riding with mates part of fun at skate park

ANDREW Sullivan would go to the Gladstone Skate Park to ride his bike every day if he could find the time.

The Gladstone man has moved to Caloundra but loves coming back home.

"I am on holidays up here at the moment. I am getting as much time down here as I can," he said.

"It's great riding with the crew and seeing everyone try their new tricks."

He preferred the park when it was quiet and liked to see people riding different kinds of equipment.

"The scooters have a pretty good time at this park," he said.

"They love it, so do us on bikes but you rarely see someone on rollerblades."

In jeans, he was working up a sweat.

"I don't usually wear jeans and I am finding it hotter than usual," he said.

"But I can't stop, I just have so much energy."

He said his favourite part of the park was the box.

"It's probably the easiest to do tricks over," he said.

"I don't have a favourite trick because I can do a lot of different stuff. At the moment the wall rides are going pretty well."

There are a few things he would like done to the park to make it better.

"It needs more ramps as big as the biggest one here," he said.

"They should design the bowl so water doesn't pool in it when it rains.

"There could also be a bit more variety."

There is a change on its way that Andrew is looking forward to.

"It gets so hot down here in the middle of the day, I can't wait until we get some shade," he said.

"I don't know why they took it down on us but I'll be happy when it goes back up."
