Alleged Toowoomba drug dealer denied bail
AN alleged Toowoomba drug dealer cannot reunite with his pregnant girlfriend after a court found the risk of him re-offending was too high.
Aaron James Garnet Thorne, 25, applied for bail in Brisbane Supreme Court to live at Bribie Island with his mother.
Justice David Boddice said police caught Mr Thorne with methylampethamines, marijuana, clip-seal bags and digital scales during a search of his caravan.
He said officers also found a tick book, which allegedly showed Mr Thorne was supplying drugs, cash and mobile phones.
Justice Boddice said Mr Thorne then failed to show up for court on those charges and officers found more marijuana during a second raid.
He said these alleged offences occurred while Mr Thorne was on a two-year suspended jail sentence for other drug offences.
Barrister Steve Kissick said his client was the author of his own demise and had a strong case against him but he was still a young man with a supportive mother.
Justice Boddice denied bail, saying strict conditions could not overcome the seriousness of the offending or the risk Mr Thorne would reoffend.
