Alfa driver five times the limit at Boyne Island

POLICE were lucky to intercept a Alfa Romeo driver at 10.30pm on Saturday before he caused serious damage to himself or others.

The 38-year-old man was driving down Handley Drv in Boyne Island when he allegedly recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.253%.

The high range drink-driving offence means the man's licence has been automatically suspended.

He will appear in Gladstone Magistrates Court at a later date.
