Agnes Water Steiner School receives final tick of approval

THE Agnes Water Steiner School now has an opening date, term one of 2017.

The Goora Gan Steiner School made the announcement on its Facebook page overnight.

"We are so pleased to announce that we have received accreditation for our school and will be opening in Term 1, 2017" they wrote.

The school will operate out of the Old Community Hall on Springs Rd.

They hope to enroll between 15 - 30 students for the first term, and are looking to hire teachers now.

For more than ten years a Steiner Playgroup has run in Agnes Water, with more than 20 families getting involved.

As the area has grown in population, Goora Gan Steiner School president Melissa Thomson said there was a need for a new school.

The school will follow the Steiner Australia Curriculum, which achieves the same outcomes as a mainstream school.

"Now we're going to take our time make sure everything is in place," she said.

"It's very exciting, there's been a lot of hard work so that has all paid off."

The alternative education was established more than 100 years ago.

They are taking enrolments now. For more information email agneswatersteiner@gmail.com.
