Agnes Blues Roots and Rock Festival postponed

AN oncoming low pressure system expected to hit Gladstone early Friday has forced organisers of the Agnes Blues Roots and Rock Festival to postpone the highly anticipated event.

Making the decision to postpone the event at 10am on Wednesday, events committee co-ordinator Gassan Sangari said he was bitterly disappointed.

He confirmed the three-day festival, which was due to start on Friday, would be rescheduled to March 27-29.

"I'm not happy about it," he said.

"There are a lot of people who will be impacted by the news. I will be spending today informing a lot of musicians, stall holders and accommodation providers."

Mr Sangari said the cyclone posed too much of a risk for the event to continue this weekend as planned.

"It could mean that we get flooded in and we just can't take the risk," he said.

"I send my apologies to anyone inconvenienced and hope to see them in March."
