Hairdresser is after a pierce of the action
HAIRDRESSER Hannah Crompton has found her calling in the salon.
But the 20-year-old won't stop there, keen to extend her skills.
"I'm going to do a piercing course in a few months," she said. "I love piercings, I love how they're all different and show personality.
"That will give me more opportunities."
The 20-year-old grew up in the mining town of Moranbah, and after moving to Brisbane for a few years ended up back in another small town - Dysart.
"I came to Gladstone for the job - I wanted a change," she said.
Hannah had tried out child care in Dysart but it wasn't for her, so she got into hairdressing and did a three-year apprenticeship with TCS Hair.
"It's all about the hair," she said. "I like being different and helping make people feel confident."
Hannah is one of the hairdressers at the newly opened Hairhouse Warehouse at Gladstone Square in the Valley.
"Hairhouse Warehouse is massive, it could take me anywhere in Australia," she said.
She is staying with friends in Benaraby until she and her two-year-old Chinese crested dog Esmeralda find a suitable pad in Tannum Sands.
"I'm a beach girl, I love the fresh air," she said.
"She (Esmeralda) loves the beach too, and goes mental around people."
Hannah said she was excited to be in a bigger city.
"I came on my own…I packed my bags, packed my dog and said 'see ya' to my parents," she laughed.
