JOBS: What skills Adani needs for new CQ coal mine
WHEN Adani's Carmichael mine gets underway, thousands of jobs across a range of fields will be up for grabs.
According to a 2012 report into the project, about 1250 jobs are expected to be needed in the first year of the project, which could be 2017.
Adani will be looking for managers, engineers, tradespeople including carpenters, plumbers, electricians and boilermakers, lab technicians, administration staff and rail operators.
There also could be a need for mining engineers, geologists and surveyors, as well as mechanical and electrical engineers and maintenance planners.
The graph above shows the projected jobs for Adani, if the project had started in 2013.
The report states the construction and operational workforce will likely be sourced on a fly-in fly-out basis. During contraction, the workforce would be accommodated at a village near the proposed mine and airport.
Three temporary camps would be established along the proposed rail alignment for rail construction crews.
Workers may also be recruited from towns including Clermont, Emerald and Charters Towers.
