THIS weekend will be 12-year-old Jamie Derringer's first time competing as part of a level-five trio and the moment will be made all the more special as it is the last time she and her teammates will compete as a team.

Jamie, who also does women's artistic gymnastics, will compete in the ACR National Club Championships and Queensland Cup with Ashleigh Leeson and Shannae Rose, both 20.

The women have been practising together since the start of the year and the competition marks a return to the sport for both Ashleigh and Shannae.

"We did gymnastics when we were younger," Ashleigh said.

Shannae, who works at Cooper Mackenzie Marketing, said she and Ashleigh, who works at Walz Construction, decided to get back into gymnastics at the same time.

Ashleigh, however, has decided to stop competing for a while after this year.

"It's so fun going away with all the girls," Shannae said.
