Man accused of abducting Childers girl faces new charges

NEW charges have been laid against the man accused of abducting a three-year-old girl from Childers after he allegedly smashed a window on a police car and defecated in a watchhouse cell.

Eden James Kane, 45, is charged with two counts of wilful damage of police property.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Chris Elder said the man allegedly kicked the glass of a rear passenger window on a police car on April 15.

Sgt Elder said he was then taken back to a police watchhouse and placed in a cell, where he allegedly defecated and used his faeces to write on the cell walls.

The incidents are alleged to have happened on the same day he faced a Bundaberg court charged with abducting a toddler from her home.

He faces charges in Bundaberg of deprivation of liberty, child abduction and burglary.

Kane also stands accused of breaking into a Maryborough tennis club.

The wilful damage charges and break and enter charge were briefly mentioned in Maryborough Magistrates Court this week.

Kane will next face a Maryborough court for those charges in late July.

He is due to face Bundaberg court for the other matters in early June.
