Accident closes off highway lane

The south bound lane of the Bruce Highway, south of Benaraby, has been re-opened following a single vehicle accident earlier today.

Early police reports suggest a vehicle towing a trailer has crashed about 500 metres south of the Tannum Sands Rd turnoff.

The accident occurred about 10am this morning.

It is believed the vehicle had been travelling south to Turkey Beach when the female driver momentarily lost control, spilling an amount of compost from the trailer on to the Bruce Highway.

The woman had not long departed the Benaraby Refuse Tip with a load of compost when the accident occurred about one kilometre down the road.

No injuries are believed to have been sustained by the woman in the accident.

The south bound lane of the Highway was closed for more than an hour as emergency services assisted in moving the vehicle from the scene and crews cleaned up the spilled compost.
