Public art project proposal workshop at Gladstone gallery

JOIN Creative Regions director Rod Ainsworth for an exciting project proposal workshop, in conjunction with the 2015 International Year of Light and Light-based Technologies, from 10.30am on Saturday at Gladstone Regional Art Gallery & Museum.

Artists will have the chance to work collaboratively as part of a series of locally created artist window displays to be hosted throughout the region.

"Artist windows have a long tradition within the cultural community, from Salvador Dali in 1939 and Sidney Nolan's early years with Abbotsford's Fayrefield Hats to more recent times where Japanese artist Takashi Murakami has created artist windows for Louis Vuitton," gallery and museum curator Jo Duke said. "The artist window project will celebrate public art and inspire many wonderful community discussions."

The selected items will be installed during the first two weeks of December and displayed until Sunday, January 31.

Artist windows is a joint project with Gladstone Region Regional Arts Development, Queensland Government and the council.
