SMASHING a cake is a birthday celebration only the youngsters can get away with.

Creating a big mess while having a lot of fun, Kyan McClure celebrated his first birthday on the family farm at Benaraby in the company of 40 family and friends.

The party was western themed and both young and old gathered on April 26 for the day of fun.

Mum Sharna McClure said the little man had an absolute ball.

"He absolutely loved it," she said.

"He loved doing the cake smash and the Maltesers.

"He didn't sleep that night because he was on a sugar high."

The cake that was subject to a lot of smashing was a beautiful creation of Julie Ann Bryce.

The party was complemented with a cowboy boot pinata, horseshoe throwing and a pig on a spit later in the evening.

Parents Sharna and Ross said the day was a great chance to have a laugh with friends and family, and of course an opportunity to spoil Kyan.
