Third worker airlifted from QCLNG site in three weeks

A THIRD worker has been transported off Curtis Island's QCLNG site by helicopter in as many weeks - but Bechtel has said his condition was not due to an accident, but a personal medical condition.

Bechtel is already investigating two separate safety incidents that left workers injured.

On Wednesday, September 11, a man lost the top of his finger after he was moving structural steel on the eastern side of train 2.

And last month, two men were injured when they were moving a crane rail along a structural steel beam.

One of the men was flown to Rockhampton Hospital where it was determined he received fractures to bones in his foot.

Bechtel general manager Kevin Berg called on Bechtel's employees to help the company in every way possible to improve.

"Because our injury rate isn't absolute zero across all of our operations here in Gladstone, we are not satisfied with our performance," he said.
