Calliope teen chosen by peers to attend state scout forum

CALLIOPE scout Brodie Kettle was elected by his peers from 20 scout groups across central Queensland to represent the region in a Brisbane youth forum.

The 16-year-old was excited to meet with other Queensland scouts passionate about the outdoors last weekend.

He said he wanted more kids in the Gladstone region to join Scouts and enjoy camping and learning leadership skills.

"A lot of people I talk to at school have never been camping, never slept under the stars," he said.

"I've learned heaps and heaps of new skills you can use outside of Scouts too.

The Queensland Branch Youth Council meets annually and facilitates input into how the organisation runs.
