Older sister says new brother is like a "real life doll"

LACHLAN Brian is the latest addition to a Gladstone family, and one of his siblings has already claimed him as her new doll.

Lachlan Johnston was born at the Gladstone Hospital on April 15 weighing 7 pound 11.

He's the smallest baby yet for Samantha McDowell and Scott Johnston, a whole pound or two lighter than his three siblings.

Older sister Alarah, 2, is already treating him like he's a real life doll, Ms McDonnell said.

"She absolutely adores him.

"She's spent lots of time with him already," she said.

Lachlan is their third son, a little brother to Jayden, 9, and Keiran, 7.

The siblings met Lachlan the day after he was born.

"They came up and were holding him and saying how little he was.

"They're all excited to have a little brother."

The couple went home yesterday to his new nursery.

He's bound to be inspired and entertained in his room that is already filled with aeroplanes, little boats and helicopters.

Lachlan's middle name, Brian, was chosen in honour of Samantha's grandfather.

It's a trend they've kept with all three children having middle names inspired by other family members.

Ms McDonnell said so far he had been a quiet, content little baby.
