Jury still out on case of father accused of raping daughter

A JURY tasked to determine the fate of a Maryborough father accused of raping his eight-year-old daughter will enter its third day of deliberations on Monday.

The 46-year-old man is charged with four counts of forcing his daughter to perform oral sex on him in 2012.

Three of those charges are alleged to have happened all on one day.

His trial began in the Maryborough District Court on Wednesday.

The jury began deliberation on Thursday afternoon, including an estimated two hours of rewatching pre-recorded evidence given by the alleged victim and her school friend.

The girl's mother and a police officer from the Maryborough Child Protection Unit also appeared as witnesses in the trial.

The jury were dismissed to go home about 1pm on Friday without reaching a verdict.

The court will reconvene at 9:30am on Monday.
