Big Dad's Pies businessman charged with fraud faces court

A BUSINESSMAN whose family established the now defunct Big Dad's Pies has had his matter mentioned in court.

Stephen John Donnelly, 54, was arrested on December 31, 2015 and charged with eight offences, including seven counts of fraud, over allegations he opened up bank accounts in other people's names to funnel the stolen money into.

The alleged offences occurred between July 6, 2014 and May 12, 2015 when he was employed to operate another pie business in Ipswich.

He allegedly embezzled more than $160,000 from his employer.

Another man, co-accused Daniel James McDonald, 44, was also charged with fraud over his alleged dealings with Mr Donnelly and a third party.

Both men had their matters adjourned until June 27.
